Meeting Notice

The Virginia Division of the Izaak Walton League of America will hold its next quarterly meeting on Saturday, November 4 at the VFW Post 7589 Hall on Route 28 (Church Street) in Manassas, Virginia. All IWLA members are invited to attend.
The Northern Virginia Chapter will host this meeting beginning at 10 a.m.

Disappointment

Trash everywhere! What a mess to greet a beautiful Monday morning.
A recent Sunday afternoon picnic group at the large pavilion showed a blatant disregard for the care and maintenance of our grounds. Not to mention the fact that the next group to use the pavilion would find a noxious mess to clean up before beginning to enjoy their picnic.
Trash cans are to be used for collecting points only. Our critters love to demonstrate their skills in dumping and spreading anything they find in those cans. One of our rules is that you bag and dispose of all your trash. There are three (3) roomy dumpsters , two of which are in close proximity to the large pavilion for the disposal of your trash and other debris from your picnics and other fun get-togethers. Please make use of them.

Memberships Available November 4

The Arlington-Fairfax Chapter, IWLA, has openings for new members who would like to affiliate with us and participate in our many activities and opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.
The last orientation for 2006 will be held on Saturday morning, November 4, 9 a.m. in the Chapter field house at our park.
Recommend us to your friends and neighbors. Bring them out to visit. Let them see for themselves what a great place we have and that we are willing to share our facilities with them as they become members.
To be considered for membership next year and receive specific information about our Chapter, those interested may log on to our web site and contact our Membership Director, Jim Showalter.

“It is axiomatic to say there will be no hunting and no fishing unless we, the people, demand conservation. We are not aiming at the European idea of conservation, where there are great preserves for the use of a few individuals. What we are striving for in this country is to preserve our animals, birds, and fish so that the average American can get an opportunity for life in the open.”
. . . . Theodore Roosevelt
